Members of CSR peer groups were on a study visit to Madrid, Spain
During the study visit participants met their peers in Spain working in the field of CSR from Governmental, business and non-governmental organizations such as Ministry of Labour, Instituto de Empresa, ECODES, Foretica, OHL, ITP and ENDESA. Representative from Ministry of Labour Mr. Ramos presented the latest initiative of the Spanish Government to promote the CSR among the companies and the role of the Government in CSR. Mr. Joaquín Garralda, Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs at Instituto de Empresa Business School talked about CSR education and presented Master programme in CSR at Instituto Empresa. Representatives from ECODES, a renowned Spanish NGO that promoted the sustainable development through the CSR, and Forética that promoted CSR in Spain through the SGE21 standard shared their experiences. Participants also heared OHL , which was one of the biggest companies in services and construction presenting their good practices, focusing on Labour Standards and visited ENDESA - the leading utility in the Spanish electricity system and the number one private-sector multinational electricity utility in Latin America, also a major operator in the European Mediterranean region. Participants also met members of Spanish Global Compact Network at the informal gathering.
